Penny counts on software made in Germany
Number one on Czech discount market with software solution Compex Commerce in rollout phase
For the takeover of 146 PLUS stores and one warehouse, Penny CZ is counting on the standard software Compex Commerce® of the Compex Systemhaus GmbH. After the Plus data have been successfully transferred at the beginning of year, the leader of the Czech discount market manages all three central warehouses in Radonice, Jirny and Lipnik with the new system. At the moment, the company is preparing the stores' rollout, which is going to start later this year. The Czech REWE subsidiary has already been working with the Heidelberg software expert since 1999. In the course of the takeover, the company is standardizing the merchandise management and the logistics systems. At the same time it started a release change.
As soon as the project is concluded, some 500 users in three central warehouses with each having a total area of approx. 35,000sq.m, 12,000 storage compartments, and 300 stores will use the Compex Commerce merchandise management system with integrated logistics both for the headquarters as for the stores. The system maintains between 80,000 and 90,000 store purchase order items, the daily turnover figures of some 500,000 article references in the stores, 34,000 articles in the central warehouses, and 3,100 suppliers.
Three-step project plan to success
In order to standardize the systems of Penny and Plus, which so far have been separate, Penny Market opted for a three-step plan. Since April, the first step has already been concluded, and all central warehouses have been working with Compex Commerce. In the second step, which is to be concluded by this summer, Penny Market goes productive using the Business Intelligence OBII (Online Business Intelligent Integration) developed by Compex. The store rollout will start in fall.
With the productive operation of the central warehouses, Penny has benefited from the standardized assortment structure in all stores already since the first rollout phase. Thanks to the integrated warehouse management with random storage, the central warehouses' capacity is improving.
Data Warehouse integrated in business processes
In the course of the project, Penny CZ will also start to use Compex' Data Warehouse OBII by fall. OBII is integrated in merchandise management and logistics, and allows Penny CZ comprehensive data analyses and ratio systems. These data are then promptly integrated into Compex Commerce in order to control single business processes, and they serve as a basis for specific decisions, e.g. for an optimized, cost-sensitive stock management and margin maximization.
